Changes affecting overseas drivers

Important_infoDo you have an overseas driver’s licence? From 1 March 2015, holders of a Victorian driver licence or learner permit, cannot use any overseas driver licence (or an interstate driver licence) to drive in Victoria.

From 1 July 2015, overseas licence holders who commit driving offences and incur demerit points above the permitted limit will be disqualified from driving in Victoria. Details of the demerit point limits can be found from this website.

From 1 September 2015, holders of an overseas driver licence who fail the VicRoads practical drive test will no longer be permitted to drive using their overseas driver licence in Victoria. If they wish to continue to drive, they will be required to get a Victorian learner permit and comply with all restrictions applicable to a Victorian learner permit.
