Want to become an e-friend to help new students in 2016?

e-friend_insetLa Trobe International is looking for current international students across all disciplines and campuses to help new students prepare for university and settle into university life.

An e-friend is an experienced La Trobe student who volunteers to answer questions about living in Australia and studying at La Trobe using Facebook and Weibo. As an e-friend you will play an important role in easing the nerves of new students and building their confidence. In return, you will gain experience in professional training and leadership development, and accumulate hours for the La Trobe Volunteering Award in 2016.

You will be trained and supported to assist incoming students in Semester 2, 2016. This is a good opportunity to share your experience and develop your communication skills. To become an e-friend:

  • you must attend a one-hour training session in June 2016
  • you need to be committed from six weeks before and six weeks after the semester start
  • you will spend at least half an hour each day answering student questions, making topic posts and moderating student comments via Facebook or Weibo (only for Chinese students who can’t access Facebook in their country).

To register your interest for the Semester 2, 2016 E-friends Program, fill out the registration form here by 31 May 2016.
