You’re invited to a huge pop concert in the Sidney Myer Music Bowl to mark the start of the university year and welcome this year’s international students.
Big music acts include the Korean superstar Ailee, Sing! China first runner-up and Singaporean singer-songwriter Nathan Hartono and an appearance by virtual Japanese pop star IA (from voice synthesiser software Vocaloid).
Free for students, Asia Pop Fest celebrate all aspects of popular culture, with K-Pop dance competitions, a gaming lounge and food trucks. It’s an event for all of Melbourne to enjoy – from local and international students, to K-Pop die-hards and the pop-curious.
From 5 – 7 pm on Friday 24 March, the Sidney Myer Music Bowl will host activities for international students and their friends, including a Melbourne info zone, an acoustic stage and the official Lord Mayor’s Student Welcome.
From 7 pm, as the sun goes down, it’s time to move to the main stage for a huge line-up of popstars from the stages of Seoul, Tokyo and Singapore. Come and celebrate as an iconic Melbourne venue becomes a playground of pop.
