Make Bosnia and Herzegovina your campus

The School of Engineering and Mathematical Science and La Trobe Learning and Teaching are organising a unique interdisciplinary project-based elective subject (15 credit points) open to all Trobe University undergraduate students in their third year of study (outstanding 2nd year students can also apply).

International students are welcome to apply!

Who and What?

Would you like to be part of an interdisciplinary team of five that will generate an innovative idea, develop a detailed design of a product and pitch it to an international panel of experts from academia and industry?  We are selecting thirty students to be part of this adventure.

Pre-Travel Innovation Training and Development

The design stage of the subject, at La Trobe University, will start on 28th August 2017 and conclude on 17th November 2017. Teams will engage in a blend of weekly online and face-to-face activities to prepare for a one day Industry Workshop.

You will then travel to Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to attend the IEEE Student and Young Professional Congress (1st – 4th December). You will participate in the IEEE/YEP Innovation Challenge and compete with dozens of other student groups from Bosnia and Herzegovina to secure investor funding for your great idea.   After the Innovation Congress, you will shadow and engage with industry professionals in their field (7th – 14th December). This will provide you with valuable work-experience in an international setting.

Supercharge your CV

This subject – led by Eddie Custovic (Director of the La Trobe Innovation and Entrepreneurship Foundry), Dr Damir Mitric (Senior Lecturer, La Trobe Learning and Teaching) and Matthew Felicetti (Computer Systems Engineer, La Trobe Innovation & Entrepreneurship Foundry) – provides you with an exclusive opportunity to experience firsthand the power of innovation and entrepreneurship. We are looking for participants keen to promote their ideas and take risks in a supportive environment. The subject simulates the realities of modern working life and give you transferable skills. This experience will help you develop and pitch your own professional identity (brand) to future employers.

Register online from here by the 8th of August. Places are limited. An information session providing further background information, including scholarships, travel arrangements and course requirements will be held on Wednesday, 9th August from 5:30pm until 6:30pm at the Szental Lecture Theatre, La Trobe University.
