Be aware: nesting bird season

Australia has some birds that become protective during breeding seasons. Swooping is the most common way for birds to scare off intruders but it doesn’t happen very often. Things you can do:

  • Avoid areas where birds may swoop if you can
  • If you can’t avoid these areas, move quickly and cover your head
  • Do not harass birds
  • Do not destroy nests
  • Don’t feed swooping birds
  • Travel in a group
  • Tell others of areas where birds swoop
  • Report if you are swooped online
